The Sacrifice/Offering God Accepts

Activity : Sunday Sermon Scripture References: Gen. 4: 1-8, 1 Kings 3: 1-15, Acts 2: 42-47; 4: 32-37; 8: 9-24, Gal. 6: 6-10, Heb. 10: 1-18 Introduction Our present world is tilted to believe that everything and everybody, including supposed men of God, and even God Himself, has a price. The capitalist orientation has modified our thinking into believing that there is nothing that could not be bought, including things that are  exclusive of God; grace, mercy, blessings and even, the Holy Spirit, as long as the price is right . Body In the Old Testament, the very first advent of sacrifice was by Jacob (Genesis 31:54). I did tell us over the past three weeks that father Abraham and his son, Isaac never sacrificed for once before God blessed them; they were both given to good works before God. God began to explicitly require sacrifices from His people for basic reasons like, thanksgiving, remission of sins, peace, etc while in the wilderness and their sins, both against God and

Do You Mock God?

Bible Readings: Exodus 5:1-23; Acts 5:1-11 Introduction There is no gainsaying that there is a serious saddening proliferation of the Christendom today, with such worrisome profligacies that make one continue to wonder whether the "abomination that causes desolation" (Daniel  12:11; Matthew 24:15) is already here. Hence, the end is here. But really, these are just the signs of the end-time (Matthew 24:1- end ). There are many people in the Christendom today who serve all but God. However, to them, they are seriously in the service of God. Unfortunately and unknowingly to them, they are mocking God because what they are doing is not acceptable to God whom they claim to be serving. May God grant us understanding as we go in today's sermon. Amen. Message In Genesis chapter 4, both Cain and Abel sacrificed to God with what they have in their hands and from their handiworks. While God accepted Abel's sacrifice, He rejected that of Cain. Why? Many preachers have er

YOU CAN BE DIFFERENT

Sunday, 10th July, 2016 Program: Message (Sermon) Bible Readings: Genesis 6: 1-9; Revelation 2: 12-17 Message Our world today is often described as crazy, not only because absurd things abound everywhere, including inside the supposed houses of God, the Church, but also because of the uncontrollable escalating craves amongst men to want to be part of the crowd. This is the lamentable band wagon effect of our pitiable world. It should not be surprising too that the supposed Church of God is not spared in these orgies as we also try hard to outdo the other denominations. By this, we import myriads of “spiritual innovations” into both our “services to God” and the “worship of the Most High” not minding whether they are acceptable unto Him or not. The tendency abound, brethren, for people to tag anyone who chooses a different part an outcast, a lowlife or even worst names. There is no gainsaying that such “non-conformists” who are bent on “rocking the boat” by breaking the compliance

WHEN GOD TARRIES

Bible Reading: John 11:1_45 Other readings: John 15:1-8, Matthew 6: 33,  Colossians 1:1-20 Introduction As good parents, it is not every time our children ask for things that we give them. We don't delay or deny these desires because of any misdemeanor of these children, but, at times, we need to delay the gratification for reasons best known to us. At times, we need to prioritize. Likewise, sometimes, most of us "ask", but don't receive immediately or even never received. And it is not as if we are dwelling in any particular sin. As well, it is not as if we are not filled with the Spirit of God. Many of us will even add fasting to the prayer. Yet, no answers came. In situations like this, a seeming darkness envelopes us, and we often get confused as the heaven seemed sealed up against all our entreaties. The world would begin to make jest. Yet, God looks on as if He's no longer there. What then is going to happen next? Bod y In our Bible reading, th

Topic: Fulfilment of Hope

3rd April, 2016 Memory Verse: " If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." - 1 Cor. 15- 19 Bible Readings: Amos 9:11-15, Luke 24: 36-43 INTRODUCTION A hope may be described as an event whose outcome is yet unknown. When we then await the outcome, we say we have hope. A hope that remained unshakable over time is called faith. That is, a hope against hope (Rom. 4:18). This is a precondition for pleasing God ( Heb . 11:6) In our first Bible reading in the book of Amos , the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ was foretold . The disciples held on to this hope and the hope was eventually fulfilled in that book of Luke . A. WHY SHOULD WE HOPE ? a. To show our faith or build our trusts in God (Heb. 11:6) b. To prove God's faithfulness to the earthen (Heb. 3:5; 10:23; 11:11) c. That we may receive what we hoped or are hoping for (1 Cor. 1:9; 10:13) B. HOW COULD OUR HOPES BE FULFILLED? a. Through

DO YOU LOVE WORLDLY MUSIC? (Part 1)

By Kelvin Efekhaese Worldly musics (and even videos) are one of the greatest instruments the devil uses against humans, especially the teenagers and youths. Satan uses these to capture hearts and minds, and people to his kingdom, which is hell fire! Demons and evil spirits love any word and song that damns (curse) and displeases (deglorify) GOD. See! Worldly musics are unclean, immoral, carnal, lustful, irresponsible, unprofitable (fruitless) and dead (lifeless) musics. This implies that worldly demons uses them to promote and produce uncleanness, immorality, carnality, lusts, irresponsibility, fruitlessness (uncreativeness) and death (stagnancy) in people and lives. Worldly music is an entranceway to do the works and practices of the flesh; that means that those who delight and live in it shall not inherit the Kingdom of GOD (check Galatians 5:19-21). You see, worldly music is not in accordance with the Will and Word of GOD (1 John 2:15-17). It is unscriptural; since it does not bel

Increasing in the Knowledge of God

Sunday 21st February, 2016 Activity: Sunday School Bible Readings: Hosea 4:1-6, 2 Tim. 4:1-5, Prov. 3:1-10 Memory Verse: “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.” Proverbs 9:10 Introduction Another very important and strong meaning of “Pleasing God” is to hungrily desire to know more about God at all times. It would be an understatement to say that there is a worrisome paucity of the TRUE Word of God, not only in the world today, but even regrettably, in the churches amongst the people called “the children of God.” Brethren, the admonition in Joshua 1:8 is not for fun! It is for the divine purpose of “Pleasing God.” This is so because when we are diligent in our desire to know more about God, we will know what is pleasing and acceptable unto him. So today, our Senior Teacher, the Holy Spirit of God shall explain to us what it means to increase in the knowledge of God, why we need to so increase and the benefits of our increasing in the knowledge of God. Happy study, brethren

IS YOUR FAITH ALIVE OR DEAD?

Anchor Scriptures: James   2:13-26 ; 2 Timothy 3:1-7 In today's Christianity,  materialism is fast helping the growth of individualism by which the orientation of the "people of God" is now to self, and self alone. This Satanic orientation has led to many twistings and re-twistings of many Bible passages to suit the twisters and their followers. However, one beautiful fact Christians must not lose sight of, even in this perilous times, is the fact that we exist for one another. God frowns at people who do not make it their businesses to uplift others, but despise them instead (Psalm 40:1; Prov. 14:21, 31; 17:5). We all know what faith is (Heb. 11:1). And our faith in the Lord also expresses our firm believe in Him that He is our God. However, because our God is not an individual God, but the God of all, our Bible reading posits that "faith without work is dead." Wait, brethren, don't get it twisted just yet as it is done every time I hear this passage r
