A Leavened Sacrifice?

Activity : Sunday Sermon Anchor Scriptures: Exodus 34:22-26 , Luke 18: 10-14 Bible References: Gen. 4: 4-10, James 4:6-10, 1 Peter 5: 5-6, Rev. 4: 1-4, Mat. 5:5 Introduction As men, we do different things for different purposes, which in actual fact were our motivations for our actions, either towards our fellow men, or even towards God, our Creator. Whatever or whoever may be the object of our actions or inactions, the fact remains that something propelled our actions or otherwise. Benevolence is an act that is very prominent in the Scriptures, and our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, taught a handful on it; ranging from who deserves it, to how to do it and when to do it, the teachings go on. Many of us do not even know that we could commit sin even in our attempt to please and obey God, even, in giving. Our prayers is that the God of all understanding shall grant us such to know and see these things, even as we obey Him in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen. Message In the boo

The Death of the Righteous

Activity : Lord's Banquet (Thursday Bible Exploration) Anchor Scripture: Numbers 23: 8 - 12 Introduction Many times, I have been inundated with questions that bothers on the 'untimely' death of perceived  righteous men and women, so-called children of God. One of such questions was the one that one sister asked in a Sunday school class one day that: "Is it possible for a child of God to die prematurely?" Brethren, it is a fact, even as the Bible did establish it, that we are all going to die. However, God, in the Scriptures did make the promise to "make a distinction between them that serve me and those that don't serve me." That is where the challenge of our claims of being children of God comes in. Are we, children of God, supposed to have same bad experiences as those in the world? Even when we do, what ought to be our dispositions and reactions to such  occurrences?  Even though, every mortal shall die, according to the Scriptures, are

The Excellency of the Light

Anchor Scripture: Revelation 21: 23-27 Introduction Artificially, Power outages bring gloom and a feeling of despondency which is accompanied by palpable fear to us as a people. But the presence of light, even when we have no use for it, is always with a feeling of hope and joy. In my part of the world where constant power supply is considered a luxury and therefore an exclusive of the rich, whenever power is restored, people jubilantly shout for joy. Naturally, we are able to carry out a bulk of our daily activities only during the day; when there is light. But as soon as the dusk sets in, even animals withdraw into their closets, except for the nocturnal ones. Man keep away from darkness because darkness brings about fear and evil. Dark periods are supposed periods of great inactivity, tiredness and gloom. From the foregoing therefore, it is clear the reason the first thing God created was the LIGHT! Today, God shall fill us with His Light and show us why we nee

The Marks of Christ

Activity: Lord's Banquet (Bible Exploration) Anchor Scripture: Galatians 6:14-17 Scripture References: Gen. 20: 1-28; 26: 1-33; 31: 22-29, John 7: 25-30; 10: 30-39, Psalm 14:4-7; 34: 17-22; 37: 37-40 Introduction Years back in the village, whenever the owner of a possession discovers that there are many of such a thing, owned by different people all around them, they made a mark on their own such that different owners are able to distinguish theirs from those of the others to avoid confusions as to whom owns which. This initiative is in no doubt the rationale behind the use of tribal marks in some parts of the world that are used to identify people's descent and origins without any stress. With tribal marks, people's lineages could be traced even within the same descents. Likewise brethren, TRUE  children of God bear common marks by which they are easily recognized by God, their fellow children of God and even, the devil and his agents. in the Gospel according t

How To Truly Receive From God - 1 (PATIENCE)

Activity : Sunday Sermon Anchor Scripture: Psalm 40:1-10 S cripture References: 1 Sam. 13:1-14, Rom. 5:3-4; 8:25, 1 Tim. 6:11-12, Hebrews 6:12, James 1:3-4, James 5:11, 2 Pet. 1:6. Introduction Human life is full of cravings. For that reason, we ask, ask and ask at all times. Most of us are often like little children who don't always remember to appreciate past good gestures, but are more concerned about our pending requests and imminent ones. I am afraid, brethren, that most of us bear no clear-cut difference from our stomachs in that stomachs don't often remember what they have received, but are usually more concerned about the next material coming in. Like stomachs when hungry, most of us lack patience to receive the appropriate things, and in good and appropriate manner and measures. By this ravenous attitude, if not for God's mercy, many a Christian would have become preys in the hand of the  workers of iniquities. And many indeed, have, by their ravenous glut

Consecration - 2

Activity: Sunday Sermon Anchor Scripture: 2 Tim. 2: 20 – 21, Judges 13 – 16 Scripture References: Eph. 1: 3-12, 1 Pet. 2: 9 Introduction In the first part of this message, the good Lord led us into what consecration is and why it is important for us as Christians. However, there is a pressing need to move a step further to enable us apply ourselves more to this all-important spiritual concept. Ordinarily in the world today, there seems to be a discordant tune, orchestrated by doctrinal disparities, among Christians as to what God requires of us. Ditto, how we ought to conduct ourselves, as Christians, who should secondly live in God’s righteous divine presence. This ‘disunity’ accounts for Christianity Without Power , which we currently have almost everywhere today. God’s assurance is that “at the mention of the name of Jesus Christ, every knee should bow and every tongue confess . . . .” (Phil. 2: 11) How often does that happen today in our meetings, and what

Consecration - 1

Activity: Sunday Sermon Anchor Scriptures: Judges 13: 1-16, 2 Tim. 2: 20-21 Scripture References: Heb . 12:2, Col.3:2, Rom . 12:1-2, 2 Cor. 6:14-18, Phil. 1:27; 2:5 Introduction Everything on earth and in heaven were made by God for different purposes. Even things made or created by man were so made for different purposes, too. It therefore follows that everything on earth and in heaven made by God and man, essentially, all things are made by God (John 3:27), are set apart for the purposes for which they were ere made. However, while many creations stand, being set apart for their purposes, most things made don't. It is my prayer that the grace to remain set apart for and even be used of God for our creation purposes shall rest and abide with us all, in Jesus Christ Mighty Name. Amen. Message From creation story, God, in His infinite mercies had set man, out of all His creations, aside for Himself. He thus made man the head and the comptroller-general of everything He create

Spiritual Aliveness

Activity : The Lord's Banquet ( Thursday Bible Exploration ) Anchor Scripture: Matthew 13: 24-30 Scripture References: Gen. 3: 1-13; 4: 1-14, 1 Sam. 28: 3-25, Psalm 51: 10-19, Introduction "Spiritual Aliveness" is a preclude to our Sunday Sermon, "Alive Still ?", as promised then by our Senior Teacher, the Holy Spirit of God Himself. As we all partake of this Banquet therefore, it is our prayer that the good Lord shall enlighten our hearts of understanding and quicken us to do the Word at all times in Jesus Christ's Mighty Name. Amen. Before the fall of man in Gen. 3, the thinking of Adam and Eve was that the death God prophesied concerning them if they ate the 'forbidden' fruit is the physical death; that which puts an end to one's physical existence. However, their wrongness dawned on them when their physical existence continued after they had eaten the fruit. But one important thing they had lost but which did not immediately dawned

Alive Still?

Activity: Sunday Sermon Anchor Scriptures: Revelation 3: 1-6, 2 Thes, 2: 9-11, 1 Tim. 5: 6 Scripture References:  Eph. 4:14, Mark 13: 22, 2 Cor. 2: 11; 4:4; 11: 3, 13-15, 1 Pet. 5: 8, 2 Pet 2: 1-3 Introduction The tendency in the world today for people, even believers, to be swiftly swept off their feet by charismatic spiritualism is not very uncommon, and the frequency at which this happens variously is very high. There is usually the temptation to marvel at the outward appearances cum 'service to God.' To this end, many people appear very fervent and spiritually 'hot' but their spirituality, when tested in the light of the Word of God, were very less than ere anticipated because most often their doctrines contains nothing, but what the Bible calls 'the wisdom of men.' I pray, as we go through this sermon together at His feet this morning that the good Lord shall grant us all, both the divine insight and the grace to be what He wants us to be in Him

Unrighteous Prosperity - II

Activity: The Lord’s Banquet (Bible Exploration) - Thursdays Anchor Scripture: Psalm 73, Job 21 Memory Verse: “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” (Revelation. 22: 12) Introduction Last week, our good Father served us, at His Banquet here, the first part of this lesson, telling us what “Unrighteous Prosperity” mean. As a way of quick revision, we were taught that “Unrighteous prosperity is the success, breakthrough, achievement, riches, wealth, affluence, influence, power, authority or fortune which one got through unGodly means, ways, methods and or strategies”. Just last week, one of my fathers in the Lord sent me a short video of the public presentation of a young man who worked as a Security Man in a Nigerian Bank. What made this man outstanding was that he found but returned to the bank’s authority, a sum of Ten Thousand US Dollars forgotten in his branch of the bank by a customer. The story

Unrighteous Prosperity

Activity: Bible Exploration Anchor Scripture: Psalm 73 Memory Verse: “. . . man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.” (Deut. 8:3) Introduction Our world has been tilted by the plethora of lies of Satan emanating from the pit of hell, such that people now flagrantly believe and practice, even in churches, things that are abominable to our faith. The mindless crazy race towards the worldly ‘finish line’ is faith-threatening. This has engendered an abominable practice in the Christendom, in which, even believers are often tempted to celebrate the story without the slightest bother to trace the story. We seldom pay attention to the Biblical standard of success and prosperity, but often measure our members by worldly, fleshly and canal standards. a.        What is unrighteousness? Unrighteousness is the direct opposite of everything that God stands for. The book of 1 John 5:17 succinctly puts

Your Personal Identity

Activity: Sunday Sermon Anchor Scriptures: Acts 19:13-20, Matt. 16: 13-20 Scripture References: Luke 4: 31-41, Acts 19: 1-12, Phil. 2: 5-11, Luke 10: 17-22 Introduction There is a dangerous assumption in the Christendom today. It is the unwary possibility of some Christians subsuming under their Pastors, General Overseers, Founders, etc without having a personal identity in Christ. This group of Christians are content with just belonging to their congregations and using the name of those congregations wherever they go to, most especially if such congregations happened to be a large and popular assembly whose leader is respected and known all over the world. These Christians do erroneously believe that belonging to those congregations alone is enough for their christian race. So, at intervals, they invoke the names of their church Pastor, G.O . Bishop or whatever. Message The practice described above was what the seven sons of a Jewish Priest, by name, Sceva, tried in our Anchor
